Steps to activate Green Dot Card:

Method 1: Activate Online

  1. Visit https://secure.greendot.com/register to activate your card online. This is a secure page, meaning any information you send through the site is encrypted and is therefore only able to be used by Green Dot.
  2. Enter the number of your card, expiry date and CVV. On the first page, you’ll find the 16-digit card number on the front side of the card. You will need to enter the four-digit card expiry date under the card number and the 3-digit safety code discovered on the back of your card. CVV will be added.
  3. Click the “Continue” button to be taken to the next page. If you have entered the card information in correctly, you should be taken to a page asking for more information.[2]

  1. Enter your personal information to finish registering your card. Banks are required to ask for your personal information in accordance with the U.S. Patriot Act, so you will need to enter your name, address, date of birth, and Social Security Number.[3]

Once you submit this, your card is activated!

Method 2: Activate over the Phone

  1. Call the client care department Green Dot at 1-866-795-7597. It is possible to call this telephone number from anywhere. You must however enter the exit code of your country to dial the number effectively if you call from outside of the United States.
